I have tried this on a medion unit (pna150)
and it works flawlessly
AS for Warranty
The unit itself is just a pocket pc running windows ce
its like saying you pc warranty will be invalid
if you run anything other than the pre-installed
programs

All Traces of any other programs will be lost
when you do a hard reset
e.g. Switch off master switch on back of unit.

If it works for you and you're happy to take the risk, that's fine. As to the warranty, it's nothing like saying what you suggest. It would be more like unlocking your Vodafone branded mobile to be able to use any SIM card; if you did such a thing and the 'phone went wrong, Vodafone wouldn't be obliged to mend it.

But as long as you're sure that all traces are lost after a hard reset, you've nothing to worry about. Personally, I'd wait until the warranty had expired.

Could either please give us a blow by blow account of how you did it in English Please and what happens when you switch unit on and off.

Thanx in advance

All I did was follow the instructions that came with the original post. One key point is that you copy files from PC explorer to Navman by using the Explore option in AtiveSync. Just drag files from one to another. You have to do this as the PC explorer cannot explore the Navman. If you switch the unit off with the normal on/off switch on the front it comes back to whatever you were doing last, as that is a type of low power standby. If you switch the battery off, or press the reset button, it goes to the new menu, with Navman, MP3 player, Calculator, Explorer etc. Navman is totally unaffected, but to get to WinCE when in Navman you have to press the reset button.

OK. I'm up and running with this now. A couple of questions though, until I think of more.

I'm not familiar with PDA's, so how do I load mp3 and jpeg files onto the 510 now.

The calculator doesn't fit the screen properly which means the "Exit" "X" is out of view.

It's looking good though.

OK...........I've cracked the MP3 Player that's no sweat but I'm struggling to get JPEG images to fit the screen and not all applications seem to fit the screen 100% either.

I'll let you know how I get on.

I've got it intalled on my 510 as well and it's working alright except Explorer in the main menu--is this function working for you guys? Anyone try loading TomTom 5 yet? How does one go about installing other programs, will they automatically show up in the main menu or does something need to be done to get them there?

Could that be because the iCN is a landscape device and the apps are designed for portrait? You should be able to rotate your images through 90º; don't know how you might rotate apps, though.

Thanks

Paul

I'm only getting about a tenth of the image Tim so I think it must be something to do with the resolution of the image that's imported. I can't find a + or - magnifier option in the MS Paint or MS Image application.

It's a pity all my music on my HD has been ripped using Win. Media Player as it's all in WMA and not MP3. Guess I've got some converting to do.

ipaqy...... can't see anything wrong with my Explorer, what is the exact problem?

My experience
Disclaimer: if you breaks yer 510 don't blame me or Aleks.
Do's and don'ts.
Do Send Aleks $5 or more for this excellent program.
Don't ask me about unlicenced versions of tomtom !
!!! DON'T MESS WITH THE FLASH !!!!

I got a spare 510 and used that.

Download and extract the zip
http://www.eurocom-ad.nl/eurocom/navman.zip
follow his instructions. I made my own self extracting file to downlaod everything to the correct place.
I may post it, if I get permission from Alex as it is effectively re-packaging his work, and I'd like permission.

Problems I found
Running the registry tool, the program crashes. Resstart the navman device. You want the connect mobile device registry option.
Reconnetc usb cable.
Try running registry tools again, it worked after a few attempts.

Installing tomtom.
To install tt5 and have navman you need a 256M card. You will need a new PPC id. Tomtom were very helpful when I said I wanted to install on a navman.

The installer crashes a few times.
eventually I got a clean install. Persist

Problems
obviously the navman buttons won't work (but someone is working on a keymap). Some of the tomtom screens don't fit properly. It locks up frequently, but then my XDA+tomtom locks up all the time too.

Things not to do !!!!!
(unless you know about JTAG:) Don't muck with the navman flash, like putting this menu to download from there, it breaks the checksum and you will have a brick and need recouse to JTAG.

Future work - This will problaby progress no further as +
User configurable menu
restore from SD card

This is easy to fix. In the calculator look at the view menu, and there you can change the size of the on-screen buttons, number of columns, size of the fonts, colours etc.

Paulius55........Yes I sust that one out thanks. But I'm still struggling with MS Paint. I'm not getting access to all the tools in the top Tool Bar. Is it possible to play more than one MP3 file? I only seem to be able to play one file track at a time?
I still can't get any JPEG files to display more than about a tenth of the picture at the moment. It wouldn't be much use as a picture viewer as I think the processor is too slow for that job which is what I would have liked to use it as.
