I've had the Qeuest for about six months now, and just beginning to get the hang of it.

Here's my wish list in no particular order.

1 UK Post Code search (Searching for addresses is a PITA - there is a lot of ambiguity with addresses, which can be time consuming)

2 Now that we have the Speed Camera Overlay, which is brilliant, it would be nice to have an audio propmt. Doesn't have to be too sophisticated - just a warning bleep would suffice.

3 Why can't Motorways be blue? which is now fairly universal on UK printed maps. ( Not Garmin's fault - all down to Mr Navteq)

Nevertheless a useful bit of kit

Regards to all,

All good points...here's my favourite after a recent Cornwall cycling/walking/kayaking trip...

As the Quest is portable, hand sized and waterproof it would be good if it had the facility to attach a lanyard.

For outdoor use you could try one of these...

I've got one - the case is a bit of a tight fit but the quality is pretty good.

Definately agree with your wishlist. Speed Camera alerts have to be added by Garmin if they want to keep this unit competitive.

This is not a Navteq issue, it's Garmin who choose the colour of the roads. Garmin should localise it for the European market and use the correct colours. It's a minor gripe though.

The old GPS-V did, but when they made the Quest they dropped a lot of nice features like this. I don't know why.

The other thing for my wish list would be to make the in / out buttons the same size as all the other buttons. I can't see why they made them smaller, it just makes it more difficult to use them when I have my gloves on while riding the motorbike. Confused

Overall, a good unit though.

And I like to add one of mine.
At the moment we can get the Quest to sort out a route by fastest or shortest.
The Navman has a slider bar between these two choices which allows for a more natural route.
I don't know about you guys, but my journeys are usually a mixture of the two.
So there you go Garmin.
Give us a way to choose a more natural route than either one or the other.

By natural, you mean avoiding roads that you don't like, taking the odd detour via the scenic route and then down a road with a few nice twisty bits but avoiding the road where the cops hang out, then back onto the motorway to make up a bit of time. 8)

Yes, I would like it to calculate routes like that too, but I don't think it's possible. Wink

Seriously though, I find the Quickest and Shortest options work OK for me. I have it prompt me because depending on where I am and what I am doing I will choose different options.

Shortest works well for heavily built-up areas and when traffic is heavy or when I am riding cross country on my motorbike and want to try and avoid the main roads.

I use Quickest when the traffic is light or I am going a long distance on the open road.
