Hello DiddyDave,

Checkout RayFlan's site

http://www.rayflanagan.co.uk/index.html

There are a number of warning files already created - See POI warning sounds.

He will even make you a customised file with your specific warnings in - See Custom POI sounds.

Needs to go into the Navigator folder which is in Program Files on your device and not the sdcard.

Using a TomTom GO 500 , I have the same problem as ....

marctwo wrote:
Sorry if I have missed something here but the camera database I have on my Go only stores different types of camera, not different speed limits. How can I set it up to work with the new voices announcing the different speed limits? Embarassed

The reply below doesn't help.

Full instructions are shown here

It explains whixh files to copy.

The problem is that thos instructions explain how to replace the sounds.
The instructions do not explain how to make the PocketGPS SpeedCam POI db's make appropriate use of the various spoken warnings.

The problem I think is that the PGPS db's are grouped/categoried by type-of-camera and not categorised by speed-limit.

In order to make use of the spoke warning we need the POI reorganised in groups according to the speed limit. If I have a group of per-speed limit POI db's then I can manually assign the correct spoken warning to each db.

At the moment the POI files group for instance all GATSO cameras regardless of speeds into a single file and so I cannot associate the spoke warnings with the right cameras.

Or are we missing something??

In response to my own posting above.

Yep I RTFM just not all the FM's.

Inside the zipped up POI database file there is a readme file "Which files should I use.txt" detailing that there are multiple sets of camera POI's in the zip file.

One set, the set I was previously using, are organised by camera type...
    csv files\other

However, in a different directory we have groups by speed..
    speed zoned\gatso

and
speed zoned\mobile

I'm going to try this latter set now.

I guess I need the following ....
All the speed specific files from these dirs ...

speed zoned\gatso
speed zoned\mobile
plus these individual files...
ov2 bmp files\pocketgps_uk_redlight.ov2
ov2 bmp files\pocketgps_uk_specs.ov2
ov2 bmp files\pocketgps_uk_temp.ov2
I guess I don't need this one ...
ov2 bmp files\pocketgps_continental.ov2
?

Then manually assign the voice warnings to these db's

On this page http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/tomtom-go-poi-alerts.php
you might want to mention which POI files you need to install in order to make use of the spoken alerts.

I guess we need the following ....

All the speed specific files from these dirs ...

  • speed zoned\gatso
  • speed zoned\mobile

plus these individual files...

  • ov2 bmp files\pocketgps_uk_redlight.ov2
  • ov2 bmp files\pocketgps_uk_specs.ov2
  • ov2 bmp files\pocketgps_uk_temp.ov2

I guess I don't need this one ...

  • ov2 bmp files\pocketgps_continental.ov2
