Tomtom mobile 5 maps work on Tomtom mobile 4 (2005)??

Ive got tomtom 4 installed on my C500, but Im going to get France, Italy and Switzerland maps for my holiday.

Anyone know if the Tomtom mobile 5 maps for these countries are compatable with Tomtom 4 (2005)

Im told they should be, but has anyone tried it?

ttm4 maps don't work on ttm5 so i assume they won't work the other way round either.
