Having upgraded to TTN5 version 5.10 and Checkpoint 5.02, Checkpoint is sort of working now but is still unstable. I have run into the following probelms which are all sporadic and do not always occur:
1. Checkpoint sometimes takes 5 minutes to load even after a soft reset.
2. Having loaded Checkpoint and clicking on Navigate icon in Checkpoint, TTN fails to start with message "Navigator Failed To Start". Clicking on TTN5 manualy from the desktop icon sometimes loads TT.
Testing is still ongoing..... |

I have installed Checkpoint 5.0.2. on my Medion PNA100 with TomTom 5.01
It sort of works.
The only problem I have is that when the Checkpoint Info is displayed (when approaching a speed camera) the displayed information flickers like mad.
I have unchecked the `Display Info' box on Checkpoint and just use the voices to warn me.
Anybody have any ideas about the displayed info flickering? |

IFAIK there's no cure for the flickering yet, something to do with the way TomTom draws the map
I've done the same as you and switched off the "Display Info" _________________ SW

I found that starting TomTom then clicking through to the 4th screen to start Checkpoint works better, then click the navigate link in Checkpoint _________________ SW

One wayof overcoming the Checkpoint Displayed Info Flickering is to uncheck the Display Info in Checkpoint. If you want to see the location of the POI, just set up the Warn when near a POI on Checkpoint. |

Sorry that should have read. Set up Warn when Near a POI from the TomTom Menu. |

Seems you need the tt5 update off the tt website to improve compatibility with checkpoint. Something to do with the SDK.,However the update on tt's website stated nothing about a SDK.
Anyway, hopefully POIwarner (much nicer app imho) will be updated and will some one PLEASE do a util to re-arrange the god awful menu layouts in tt5. |

Checkpoint 5.0.2 loaded. Starts TT5 v5.01 OK, visible in TT menu, but does not see OV2 files which are loaded in to map folder.
Any clues? |

I think its because you havent updated Tomtom5.
You state: Starts TT5 v5.01 OK,
However, the update on the TT website clearly states :
Update July 2005 - TomTom NAVIGATOR 5.10 - Pocket PC
Besides, poiwarner is now available for tt5.1 so ive ditched checkpoi in favour of Poiwarner
Hope that helps.

Apologies - typing error. Current TT5 version is 5.1.
Could Checkpoint be loaded into wrong directory?
Will try POIwarner next. Thanks

Hmm, i didnt install it any different. OV2 and BMP files to map folder on storage card then a "default" install of chekpoint.
Only other thing i can suggest, is start tt5 then go to menu 4 and start checkpoint. Click on NAVIGATE with checkpoint.
Hpoe that helps.
PS, poiwarner isnt free like checkpoint, but, as i've said already, its the better app imho. |

I selected to install CheckPoint on the SD card (although the program files were installed onto the PPC by default) and it works fine for me
ov2 and bmp files are in the map forder on the SD card _________________ SW
