|
|
Are there any owners of the HP IPAQ hx4700 who have been able to install and run TT5 from the hx4700's internal ROM user accesable storage area known as IPAQ Store?
If so, please could you let me know the process that you went through in order to make it work and have you noticed any performance issue compared to running TT5 in default application menory.
Thanks in advance
Richard. |

Choose not to install it to the default installation location when prompted by Activesync, then choose "ipaq file store" from the list of folders.
There's no performance hit. The program appears to take around thiry seconds to load up whether installed to main memory or not and regardless of installation directory will need to read the map data from your SD/CF card.
BTW once Windows Mobile 5 is available all installed programs will in any case need to be installed to non-volitile RAM.

steve_p, thanks for your reply.
Doh, I should have thought about the install to default location dialogue, for some reason, I assumed that the TT5 installer app would be the one asking me where it was to be installed, a bit like when installing maps.
The info about WM5 was v. useful too as I had no idea that it was coming. I have only had my hx4700 about a week now, do you know when HP are likely to make the upgrade available on the streets, other than the Summer date specified in thier May press release?
Thanks again
