Create an empty folder in the root of your storage card and name it "TOMTOM" without the quotes.

one thing i found which solved my problem with postcodes not working was that the file great_britain.postal was not in the zip directory on the memory card. once i borrowed* the 8mb file from a mate and placed it in it worked..

i must point out that he had the great britain plus map so ive emailed tt to find out why on earth it wasnt included on my card at all... 8O

The PostCode functionality is only available as part of the map upgrade which needs to be purchased, it is not provided as part of the v5 upgrade itself.

hi, I cant get it to work either, I've installed tomtom 5 and I can only enter 4 digits, I tried creating a folder called TOMTOM on the root of my SD card but that didnt help either.
I looked in the SD card and I cant even finda folder called zip, any ideas?

Did you read my post immediately before yours?

If you have not purchased the update map set then you will not have the ZIP folder that comes with the it. Simply updating to v5 does not bring this functionality and without the update map set you won't have 7 digit PostCodes.

I didnt update from 3 to 5, I actually brought the full tomtom navigator 5.
Do you reckon it will work if I just copy someone elses zip folder onto the card or something?

There is a seperate option on the setup program to install the postcodes. Just put in your Map CD and you should find the option under the Great Britian map somewhere.

It's on CD1. Choose Add Maps, Great Britain, Great Britain Postocodes.

And do you have a 'TomTom' folder in the root of your storage card?
