Hi guys,
Please help....
As posted in my earleir thread, I cannot get this bloody setup to work - and I am using all TomTom devices - The MK1 BT unit and TTN5 on my 4150. The Blue LED seems to be flashing away merrily on my BT receiver but I cannot seem to see any active conections in the BT manager. TTN5 just sits there saying no GPS device. I have upgraded to the latest patch July 2005. God only knows why it won't work. The little disk in the top right of the GPS section in the TTN5 menus is NOT spinning.

Any ideas guys? I am very disappointed with TT for this appaling lack of information - hardly anything n their website and the documentation you get is as mch use as toliet paper - infact thats the best use for it. My TTN3 was working perfectly.

I am also gobsmacked that you now have to exit the entire TTN5 application just to check for a contact number - bloody ridiculous!!

Steve

Right managed to get it working my exploring my BT manager - says nothing about this in the dodcumentation and I am no expert in this area!! The Blue LED is now solid on the BT receiver.

I did all this after a reinstall. Seems as falky as hell to me. Will report back my findings to help others.

did you do hard reset before installing tt5 as had this problem with a freinds 2210 but he still has to connect the gps via the bt manager first.
as for exiting tt just open you contacts the hold the contact in the menu select navigte to contact i think it is and thats it

I spent a whole day fiddling with my Bluetooth (BT) GPS to work with my iPaq 4150 with TTN5. good job I'm not working at the moment!

What I found that works best is...

1. Use your BT Manager and pair your BT GPS, you need to enter your paring code, usually 0000, 1234, NAVMAN, etc.

2. Once the pairing is successful you will get a shortcut icon for the BT GPS in the BT Manager. Tap to higlight the icon and hold, then choose the option connect. Wait for the connection to be successful.

3. Once the connection is successful now go to launch TTN5.

4. Go to the GPS Status and try and configure your BT device then.

Because I am using a Navman BT GPS mouse, I use the option 'Other Bluetooth GPS'.

Then I choose BT Serial Port 6 for my iPaq 4150.

Then select 'Configure', now choose 'Other Cable NMEA GPS', baud rate 4800, BT serial port 6.

Now wait a few seconds and on the top right corner the blue and yellow symbol will start to rotate and take the signal from the BT GPS.

TTN5 BT support is crap compared to TT3, if I select Other BT Device then why do I need to choose the cable one too? Whats the logic on that, grr!

More Information can be found HERE, from TomTom Support Website. It includes which port ot use on various PDA's.

You don't have to choose other cable NMEA GPS. If you pick the 'Other BT GPS', it functions exactly the same way, apart from it start BT when TT5 is started. Granted using the 'cable' option solves some BT annoyances, but also there's a reg tweak yo can do to the registry. Search the forum for 'BTBrowserEnabled'
