WRT the avoid roadblack function in TTGO 300 v5.2

Is the AVOID ROADBLOCK the distance you are from the roadblock OR the length of the roadblock you are just about to be sitting in?

A roadblock of 1mile from now is completely different from a roadblock a mile ahead!

Did a search on the forum and it isn't clear which is correct.

Anyone got the definitive answer?

I think it is the distance you are from it (makes more sense for alternate planing and you rarely know how long a roadblock is)- it has complained about not finding alternative routes if too close to block

I think it's the other...
Here's what the TomTom manual says:
If you spot signs of trouble (such as backed-up traffic or 'Delays ahead' warning signs), choose 'Avoid roadblock' . To save you time (when you're on the road), there are four presets. Estimate whether the blockage extends '100m', '500m', '2000m' or '5000m' ahead from your current position and then select the appropriate icon. (My bold text)

The whole manual is at

I can confirm that the roadblock distance refers to how long you think the traffic jam is. I have used it many times. The TTG knows where it is so just needs to be told how long a detour it needs to make.

This function has saved me from many hours stuck in traffic jams. I always smile when I see other drivers flicking madly through road atlases looking for a way out of the jam..... I just hit the required buttons on the TTG and Jane does the rest :-)

..... and she does it without shouting!! Wink

The setting is the minimum distance that TTG will leave your current route before re-joining. The actual diversion depends on the access back onto the original, which could be more than 3 miles in the case of Motorways.
