GPRS Settings.

Hi, I am new to this forum and wonder if anyone can give me some advise.

I have just purchased a Tomtom Go 700 and I am trying to set the thing up for tom tom Plus, My mobile phone is a Sony T610 and my network is O2 UK pay as you go.I have tried several times to set the phone up but I keep getting a"Parameters not supported" message.

I would be very grateful if someone can help me with this,Thanks in advance.

Has your PAYG sim card been set for GPRS. I think you will have to contact O2 and tell them that you want to use GPRS on the sim card. I

its possible it my not be possible on an O2 PAYG sim card. Best to check.

I am having the same trouble as Bluefonze. Brand new Tom Tom Go 700 which recognizes my Sony T630. I have spent hours with O2 with whom I have an internet link (O2 have been helpful, but unsuccessful - Carphone Warehouse having sold the phone are not really interested and Tom Tom impossible to contact). I, too, receive the message "GPRS parameters not supported".
If anyone has any helpful suggestions, I would be extremely grateful.

I am slowly becoming extremely dispirited. Went back to O2 who could not help any further regarding "GPRS parameters not supported". O2 gave me Sony's helpline number where I was told that the Sony T630 needed a GPS box to support it!! I explained that the phone was on Tom Tom's compatability list. Sony just said it was not the right phone! Does anyone have a successful GPRS connection with Tom Tom using a Sony-Ericsson T630?
Hoping that one of you experts out there will be able to advise. Thanks in anticipation.

I believe that you have to have a Contract O2 sim in order to get GPRS - the PAYG sim only supports O2 WAP although this does use GPRS it is not - full internet supported which is what you need for plus services.

Thanks Mike - I will talk to O2 and it sounds as if I might have to switch to a contract. It is a pity that O2 donn't seem to have enough info on tap.

Hi all 1st post etc.

To confirm

GPRS works as follows

O2 PAYG - No
O2 Contract - Yes

I know this as my Nokia 7710 with O2 simcard would not connect to GPRS.

So i searched a bit and ported my gold sim number over to Orange PAYG who DO allow connection to there GPRS service.
