Hi

does anyone know if there is a maximum number of POI allowed on TT Mobile5?

I have added quite a few POI's, but only 82 catagories are listed in the POI menue. When I delete a catagory, one of the 'hidden' (installed) catagories appears in it's place.

Is this a bug in TTM5, or am I doing something wrong? Confused Is there a work-around??

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks.

The number of POIs is only limited by the available memory. custom POI categories however are limited to 39 or less, depending on the platform and build. (recently TomTom have introduced a bug in the GO 5.2 software limiting this to 25 or so.)

Workaround: combine your custom POIs into fewer categories.

Thanks for the answer lbendlin - I can just about live with 39 catagories (I certainly couldn't live with 25 Sad !!) As you suggested, I'll need to learn how to use them to the best.

Aliendad - I'm running TTM5 on a 6600 too - what is the maximum number of POI that can be displayed without slowdown - and would you say the slowdown is significant/distracting? I'm still over awed with the system and have nearly all the POI turned on! Wink

Thanks for your input guys :D

If you use proper tools to create the OV2 file (read: if you use MakeOV2) there is no theoretical limit to the number of POIs, and performance should degrade gracefully. If you just use a plain text file (without type 1 records) then yes, performance will be bad.

Yes the startup time increases quite a lot if you have a lot of POIs. Just timed mine, it took 29 seconds.
