After my first post, and useful feedback, I'm pretty certain that I will now get a Quest.
One last thing concerns me. The size of the screen. Not having seen one in real life, it's difficult to judge. I can only imagine it must be OK as so many people like the Quest, I just need some reassurance before buying one next week over the net?

Anyone wishing to give me 'paternal cuddles' and whisper quietly "the screen size is perfectly usuable and/or the audio makes up for any shortcomings in size" would be much appreciated.

Like wise "You stupid boy, it's it obvious the screen is completely useless when they make it 2 atoms x 1 atom across" would also be appreciated.

Ta

I've found it perfectly acceptable for use in cars. Also I quite often rely on the audio when concentrating on not crashing into something at a roundabout or junction. Rolling Eyes

I also find the size ideal, for carrying around and not leaving in the car!

I'm in the COVENTRY area. If you're local to that you're welcome to have a look at one installed in car...

I like the Quest for it's compact size and portability. The screen is not very big, but Garmin make pretty good use of the small screen space and it works very well. When you approach a corner it shows a close-up of where you are going so it's pretty clear to read.

Make sure you upgrade to the latest firmware and voices (from Garmin's website) which are better quality.

If you are on the road all day every day going to multiple destinations then you probably want something bigger with a touch screen for entering addresses. Other than that, buy the Quest. It's a good unit.

Thanks once again guys. And thanks for the offer DPL, but I'm a little too far away. Nice bunch you have on these forums, it's a pleasure to visit.

Anyways, Quest ordered from Amazon and should arrive tomorrow, but can't open it until Monday ( cos I'm a birfday boy ).

Next time we speak, I'm suspect my first words will be "Help!" Wink

<<<Mushy mode on>>>

I can see I will enjoy being a part of this little corner of the web. Plenty of help and a laugh on the way. What more could you ask.
PS. What are FAQ's?

Frequently Asked Questions. Like "how do I update my firmware?" or "are there special key combinations?".

My site provides screenshots and walk-throughs for all HowTo's and most FAQ's. Even computer illiterate users can do difficult stuff that way. :D

just thought i'd throw in my two cents. my quest arrived yesterday and i was quite impressed. yes the screen is a little on the small side BUT it's organized nicely and has a very bright and clear display. i mounted the suction cup bracket to the left side of my steering wheel on the windshield and it's quite easy to read the display from that distance.
