Ok,
Someone out there must have found the hacks to change some of the TTN5 annoyances,
Can anyone tell me how to change the speed preferences?
What about the safety speed limit? What is it at the moement?
Also how do I change the layout of the Menu? Power off should not be on the last page, :x

well first up you don't need a hack for the safety screen speed - change it in preferences. _________________ -----------------------------------------------------------

Yes, I can change it on TTN3 but there isn't an option on TTN5,

Hi Carl,
Its a bit obscure, but it can be set as follows:
Select: Change Preferences > Turn off map display
Select: Above a certain speed > Done
Set: Turn off map display above (to whatever speed you want) > Done
You should get a flashing message for a couple of seconds that states "Hiding the map above <set speed>"

I don't have an option to turn of map display - I have an option to switch between 3D and 2D that's it. I know there was the menu options you describe in TT4, but I can't find them in TT5. |

Where did you get that from? There is no option to change it in the preferences. |

Strange!
The first page of my "Preferences" menu contains:
<Stars & Moon> <3D map>
Use Night Turn on
colours 3D display
<Left Arrow> <Petrol Pump>
Turn off Hide
map display POU
<Loudspeaker>
Turn off <Arrow>
sound
with "Turn off map display" being the one I am referring to.

Sorry - that formatting just didn't work! Should've checked it with Preview first! Unfortunately I can't seem to get a screenshot of tomtom either, so words will have to do
On the first page of the Prefernences menu I have icons:
Top left: <Stars & Moon> Use night colours
Top Right: <3D map> Turn on 3D display
Middle Left: <Left arrow> Turn of map display
Middle Right: <Petrol Pump> Hide POI
Bottom Left: <Speaker> Turn off sound
Bottom Right: <Arrow>
Its the middle left Icon "<Left arrow> Turn of map display".

Strange - I see it now - but for some reason couldn't see it earlier - I mentioned the icon next to it - and knew what I was looking for as I had seen the feature in TT4. |

Nice to see some helpful people on ere,
Just need to sort out some other problems,
Anyone know how to change the speed prefs? As TTN5 is taking me down slower roads,
Found how to do the menu layout on other posts on this forum, Still confused thou,
And has anyone got Voices from TTN3 to work in TTN5? Customer Support said it will work,

As yet there is no official way to change speed preferences - we shall have to wait until a hacker comes up with the answer.
The speeds must be different from the default speeds in TT3. The last 400 yards of my journey home use a different ( and less sensible) route in TT5 than I used to get from TT3.

Glad to be of service, Carl.
Perhaps someone can explain to me why TomTom elected to take up precious programming space (presumably the reason they dropped a lot of TT3 features) with the "Turn Map Off Display: Always, Sometimes, Never" options page?
Surely all that was needed was an "Above a Certain Speed" page, where the user set "0" for Never, "<required speed>" for Required Speed, and "some ridicously high figure" (250?) for Never?
From a programming perpective thats probably all the Never and Always options do anyway.
