When I use Tom Tom Traffic with my TTG 300 it stays connected for the entire duration of my journey and will not "hang up" from my phone even when I disable Traffic. The only way I can free my phone is by switching the phone off. My phone works fine with other bluetooth devices. Is there a way of making Tom Tom let go of the phone when it has finished dowloading traffic info on each occasion?

My phone is a Sony Erricson T610 and my TTG uses v5.1 and has POI's enabled with the Speed Camera database installed.

Please help!

If you're saying that it keeps an active GPRS connection open - thats what its meant to do. When using GPRS you don't pay for the amount of time you're online, just what you download. Hence, an 8 hour GPRS call costs nothing if nothing is actually downloaded.

If you want to break the connection to GPRS you can do this by making/recieving a voice call (since it can't support both voice/GPRS simultaneously), turning off Bluetooth on the phone, or by disconnecting the GPRS session manually through the phone menus.

Hope this helps

Thanks. I've tried making a call, as you suggested and that seems to disconnect it from the server but it still takes another 30 seconds to realise it's not talking to Tom Tom via bluetooth any more. If I want to make a call when driving I have to make a call via the hanset and cancel it, then make another call via my bluetooth headset 30 seconds later. It works but it's a bit dangerous while trying to negotiate other cars!

The key problem seems to be that even when I select "Disable traffic" on Tom Tom and then switch TomTom off, it still doesn't let go of the phone. If I select "Turn off Bluetooth" on the phone it says "Bluetooth is currently busy" even when the phone is off. This only happens with TomTom and all other Blutooth devices let go of the phone quite happily when they've finished.

Any other ideas?

* Discalimer: I'm not "having a go" here!

Sounds more like this is a problem with your expectations from Bluetooth.

As I understand it now, the problem you have is that TTG300 connects to the phone via Bluetooth, thus preventing the bluetooth headset from functioning?

I would call that behavious by design. You'll need to get a phone that supports more than one BT connection at a time.

There may also be some phone software around that will disconnect the BT connection after X amount of time or something? I'm now well versed in that side of things though.
