I was hoping to use my TTG Classsic abroad and take it through the airport as hand luggage instead of putting it inside my suitcase (incase of damages). Would there be any damage to the unit after its been through the x-ray machine?

On the fun side, do you think i'll get a satellite fix once in the plane and when on the move? I'd like to see how fast the arrow moves across the map of Europe! Has anyone actually tried this or will i be the first one? I suppose they won't even allow you to switch these units on!

TTG Classic
v5.10
v571 GB Plus-Map
512mb SD
Excellent unit, absolutely no problems

No. Solid state memory and IC are unaffected in any way. You might get a fix but you would need to hold it up to the window once in cruise.

Of course you must check with the airline that GPS is permitted and only switch on when in the cruise.

Another tip is to try and get a valid fix at the airport before departure to aid in getting a fix when in flight.

Hi, I recently flew to Guernsey, and was told in no uncertain terms that I could not use the TTgo during the flight..........I told the flight attendant that if the pilot got lost on the way, tell him not to come running too me for advice! Laughing Out Loud

Best regards David

I've taken my TT Go Classic to Spain several times with no problems. I've had no problems getting a GPS fix on the plane, though in GB you usually can't see what you're flying over because of cloud cover! Wink

I don't see what the problem could be using a GPS mid flight - it doesn't transmit anything as far as I know.
