You have put in CD1 of the maps right?

My question would be, what is the difference between -

1) GB Plus 208mb

2) Grait Brit 111mb

3) Postcodes

I'm assuming you have to install the Postcodes seperatly, so I'll do that after the maps. I'm going for GB Plus, does that put major roads of Europe on or something? (The image shows GB in dark green, all Eurppe in light green)

Put in CD1 and follow the instructions for GB (only GB) or GB Plus (GB and major roads of Europe). As long as the pocketpc is in the cradle and connected to the PC, the maps get put in the right place. When you next start TomTom is should automatically find the map. The first time it does, it asks you to activate it and gives you the numbers needed to go on ttcode.com. After that, you put whatever maps on you want and it doesnt ask for a code again.

The postcode file, if you've read elsewhere, can go on the memory card but needs a folder adding (to the same location as the maps and zip folder) called TomTom.

I've done that and my postcodes working fine now Smile

Ok sorted the maps bit :D
Took the Cd out of my DVD burner and put it in the CD/DVD combo and a different installation menu came up with the install maps option!!!
Dunno why the drive made any difference Confused
Problem is now it will not find my BT77 receiver, keeps saying pair with PDA.
It is paired and have re-paired it (no pun intended) and still it will not find a GPS.
Come back TT3 all is forgiven.
Will carry on searching the forum but if anyone can point me in the right direction I would be grateful before the PDA, receiver and discs end up in the pond in the garden Sad

what pda - I have a bt77 and it found it no problem.

Make sure the reciever has a sat lock as tomtom stupidly says no gps receiver if there is no lock.

As for tomtom 5 I WANT MY CHECKPOINT BACK!

For your BT GPS, some people have reported that you should select Other Cable GPS, and the correct COM port and baudrate 9600

I upgraded from TT4 and had a lot of no maps present messages. I didn't even get prompted for a code - eventually I worked out that as TT4 came on nSD card - the card had startup files on it that overwrote TT5 with TT4 every time I tried running TT! How bloody stupid can TT be? I had to remove all TT files from the SD card and reinstall. The installer is mega dumb and does not seem to recognise and handle previous versions!
