Siedio air vent mount?

Hi

I am about to buy a Seidio 2500 mount (despite the negative feedback it appears to be the best option at the price) and have a question.

When using the "air vent mount" does it restrict the movement of the fins?

yes, there is a bracket on each fin that you can push down to fasten the fin in the vent flaps.

I also just got mine despite the (relatively few) bad reports here.
I have only just installed it and it seems fine - the vent mount seems pretty secure on my Fiat Ducato, and I am waiting to see if I get any overheating or loss of sound...
Got mine from eXpansys, so no problems with returning faulty goods etc. Perhaps a few bob pricier than on EBay or similar but real peace of mind.

I think that I mis-phrased the original question. What I meant was, can you still direct the airflow with the mount attached?

The bad reports mainly concern the XDA series which is a PPC Phone and the phone causes feed back through the speaker.
A better option for a vent mount is to use the Brodit Pro Clip which fixes to the outside of the vent rather than the vanes and allows full movement of the vent in all directions.

To answer you on airflow direction I suspect no!! I've used a couple of vent mounts including the Seidio. The clips fasten through the slats of the vent, This usually stops up and down movement, 'cos the GPS is hanging there and a) gravity keeps it where it is, and b) if you angled upwards you wouldn't see the screen. Laughing

Side to side is usually stopped as the clips stop the side to side slats moving very far.

As said a mount like a Brodit usually fastens around the vent so the vent is still adjustable (though obviously the PDA will be slap bang in the airflow!)

Thanks for the info.

I am already using the Bridit with the active mount.

BTW if anyone is thinking of buying the Seidio 2500, eXpansis now keep them in stock ( 4day deliver, was 14 days)and appear to have the best price.
