If the Tomtom upgrade includes full maps of Europe then do you also get this if you buy Tomtom 5 at the full price? I have just pre-ordered it from globalpositioningsystems.co.uk. They only mention UK maps in the description on their website.

I've been waiting for version 5 for months. Checking the website out regularly and reading all the reviews with interest. Saw the link and thought. Wahey! Grabed the credit card clicked continue a few times. Guess what? Doesn't work on any Toshiba or Fujitsu PDAs. What PDA have I got? Yep. A Toshiba e570 and a Fujitsu Loox 720. WHAT RUBBISH ! Kids can write software which runs on any PDA. Why can't Tomtom??? I've bought versions 2 and 3 and have also bought the European maps. Sadly version 3 will be my last. No more waiting for me. Time to evaluate and purchase software from one of Tomtom's competitors.

Evil or Very Mad

Me too, I have checked the web site every day in May and even had my credit card poised yesterday. To say dissapointed is not the word. I use a Toshiba E400 and have no other reason to change it. Running navigator 3 for only a couple of months and really need the full postcode feature. I cannot understand what the issue is as we are all running the same os.

The issue is most probably the cradle connector. TomTom seem not to support USB GPS receivers. If yourPDA has Bluetooth then it will work fine with a BT GPS.

Lutz, Could you please clarify something. If you have TT V3 with either a wired GPS mouse or a USB one, can you change to a BT GPS mouse, or due need to purchase the TT Bluetooth version. Or is it just that TT supply two different packages, one with BT Mouse and the other a wired one, and the Software is the same and will work with either.

I don't think TomTom supply serial receivers any more. You can either get the software only version or the one bundled with their new BT receiver (SiRF III based).

But that has not much to do with the original problem in this thread, right?

I dont think that is very doable since fav. goes by the map and the maps of TT5 are changed since TT3. unless you wanna keep the maps...

The favorite are part of the maps..

fix me if Im wrong

Thanks you for the review. I tested tomtom navigator 5 myself and I was suprised by some features that where left out or changed:

- Switching to other applications without leaving tomtom isn't possible anymore
- Bluetooth automatic turn on/off can't be disabled
- not possible to navigate via programmable coordinates.

I think that this version is not for geocachers! Crying or Very sad

greetings from The Netherlands

yes, you can switch to other applications, but you need to use a hardware key for that. Press the calendar key and you get to the calendar. from there you can do the other stuff etc.

We also posted a workaround for the navigation to coordinates. Use the ITN files for that.

Will Tom Tom Nav 5 be able to record POI positions with a hardware key like checkpoint does with nav 3... can't seem to see anything about this in the review...If not how do you record new cameras to add to your wonderful database ????
