Embarassed I managed to download the speed camera database eventually, but also managed to corrupt the SD card and ending up taking it back to Comet for the third time for them to replace it.

I assume it was the SD card as it wouldn't pick up a GPS signal and kept crashing.

Really want to get the database running but need to backup my SD card, just in case!

How do i do this?

Thanx guys

Hi savo,

When you connect the TT GO to your PC (via the USB cable) the GO becomes an addition drive that the PC has access to.

Alternatively, use a card reader.

Just copy the whole of the contents of the SD card to a new folder (with a name that identifies the contents of the folder). Ensure that you copy all hidden files as well.

Regards,

Open Windows/My Documents/Tools/Folder Options/View/Hidden Files and folders/----Show hidden files.

You will now see the hidden files on your PC

As far as I am aware, and it certainly works for me (and is what TomTom support advises as well) is click on edit on Explorer tool bar, then click select all, then copy, then paste to the appropriate folder - this should do the trick nicely.

Are you suffering from an SD card that has too much on it? GO needs room for temporary files. There's not much room on the card that comes with the 300, I believe.

Many thanks for such a helpful forum to a total newbie -ie me!
I am waiting for my TTGO300 to be delivered, meantime doing some research about SD card for backup. I've read horror stories on other forums about non Japanese-SD cards, does it apply to TTgo units or is it more of a PDA problem? Are Lexar o.k.? What size card would be good for back up of UK only maps and camera POIs to use in the unit - is 256 big enough or should I go for more expensive 512?
Cheers
