This is actually pretty decent, particularly since anyone could have released any old crap with offline maps and it would still have sold on WP7, just due to the fact all the other navigation's data-o ...

It is possible to disrupt a GPS signal, but there is no chance that the police are using (or would even be allowed to use) this technology. The military have the ability to disrupt a GPS signal in a ...

The Boots postcode list is new to the website, previously it didn't allow you to do a general search - it would appear some industrious geocoder has created a POI list from this info, as the Boots POI ...

What they said was they couldn't provide that information but that I was "free" to use their online store locator. To be honest, I think the person who answered the query either couldn't be bothered ...

PostForum: Points Of Interest (POIs)   Posted: Sat Dec 23, 2006 7:24 pm   Subject: How accurate?
I suspect many of the POIs that are inaccurate were derived using geocoding - i.e. the actual physical location of them wasn't verified, it was just "worked out" by using the address/postcode register ...

I'm surprised there isn't already a Boots the Chemist POI, as I'm sure loads of people would find this handy when they're on the road and get a headache or whatever! I've already tried e-mailing Boot ...

PostForum: TomTom Software-Only Products   Posted: Tue Aug 29, 2006 7:24 pm   Subject: Navigator 6 - What to expect (?)
I think one of the major problems with the proposed traffic idea is that it relies on data from people with TomToms, who also decide to have an active GPRS connection. For a start, there are not enou ...

I'd just like to point out that "keep right" and "keep left" is not full lane information like the latest TeleAtlas and NavTeq mapping information can provide.
I think this is related to TomTom's ann ...

Lane assist, if it is introduced to TT6, will be a big plus, it's something that's sorely missing from TT5. What I'd also like to see introduced is the next 2 turnings displayed on screen, with dista ...

Not quite, it's just a Palm branded GPS receiver and a 1Gb SD Card containing the Nav6 software and maps which you use with your current Treo 650, 700P or 700W.

Point being, if the software exists ...

Generally more accurate than your speedo. Your speedo will likely tell you you are travelling faster than you actually are. This is by design, as it's better to have the error show you're going fast ...

I think the problem you are seeing is because, I think the smallest distance that TomTom deals with is 50yds or 50m. The distance will probably be more accurate when it says 400yds or 200yds.

PostForum: TomTom Software-Only Products   Posted: Thu Jul 27, 2006 10:12 pm   Subject: TomTom Navigator 5 - US Map Accuracy?
Yeah, TomTom tries to guess where a house number is on a street just by dividing the street up mathematically. As you can see, this doesn't always work very well if certain house numbers are not used ...
