*Quest 2 w/motorcycle kit and RAM ball adapter from TVNAV
*Autocom 2 into 1 adapter (for GPS and cell phone) from Top Gear (autcomamerica.com).

This isn't a design flaw, it's intentional. All Garmin's up to now have done it this way: backlight auto on (if enabled) on external power and off (but remembers last setting) on battery.
