I agree about the mixed messages from garmin, however my email has been saved for a rainy day :D .
Not sure how I can prove that it is an authentic email, you'll just have to take my word for it ... |

I emailed Garmin support this morning asking about the V8 free updates and this is the reply I recieved:
Hello Andy,
All i3 customers in the UK will be entitled to a free update to version 8 maps. ... |
