Hi BigPerk

I have a Nuvi 660 and it has the Daniel TTS voice as standard, so I would presume it could be standard on all mid/high end Nuvis.

I can honestly say that this voice is by far the best ...

Hi Declan

My basic problem with the "Driver Safety" mode was that it presumed a Pocket PC navigation program could "nanny" me into not looking away from the road. It would be fine if the mapping is ...

I would make rivers a much lighter blue than motorways which (and I don't know whether this is practical) a double blue line. However this pales into insignificance compared with the inability to sele ...

Hi Declan29

I'm in a similar position to you only that I have had my 660FM for two weeks now.

So, my comments on the Nuvi 660FM vs Copilot 6 (on an iPAQ 3970)

1. No more obsession with the so ...

I've already jumped ship and have recently bought a Nuvi 660FM.

I found CP6 OK, and when I first got it was impressed with the Text to Speech. However, the one on the Nuvi is out of this world. The ...

Thanks neil01

I did the deed as soon as I got the chance. It looks good so far, but I do not feel I will miss the "fat finger" keyboard as I don't intend to plan routes as I am driving along.

I ...

I used to have a similar problem. I run CP6 on an iPAQ H3970 and Windows 2003.

I also had the ETA problem described elsewhere on this forum where the ETA was calculated assuming a road spe ...

Hello

I submitted a question to ALK but part of the process involved looking at their Christmas down times. I think they are on skeleton staff - already!

Finally took the plunge and went for the upgrade.

The GPS 3450 sleeve worked fine, although (like CP5) I had to manually configure the sleeve (port COM7, baud rate 57600).

The installation was m ...

Hello BigH

In what way does the latest Sirf III ship based devices "leave those jackets in the dust"? Getting a fix has never been a problem with the 3450 - at least not with mine. A Bluetooth devi ...

Today, I got a phone call from ALK querying the suitability of CP6 with my Navman GPS 3450 receiver. This is the one with the upgradable firmware and external aerial socket.

I was told it was not s ...

It seems many users in the HGV forum tweak their TomTom setup to put off the routing algorithm froim selecting country lanes. This is achieved by placing a very low speed rating on this type o ...

It appears from your signature that you use TT5 and CP5. Do you use both together, or did you get one because you found the other unsatisfactory for some reason? I am most interested in h ...
