I had a backup and initially tried a restore, but that completely reversed the v8 update (maps and all), so I'm not really impressed with the tomtom home software in that respect.

Is it usual for the Favourites to be cleared out after the Upgrade? Mine all seem to have vanished...
If you didn't make a backup prior to updating, then why not?!

If you update the software to v8, then when you buy a map you will be offered the v8 versions.

By updating to the latest v8 maps and software, you would get extended IQ routing (takes time of day into account, not just day of week) and Advanced Lane Guidance/Reality view at junctions.

I think the Go 520; 720 units are all the same size.
But, would a case designed to fit the TomTom XL also fit or would it be a bit too large / small?

| AHA - Confirmed on the TomTom site - the 530 has only 1GB of Internal Memory, NOT 4GB, as claimed. So this means no Europe maps at a later stage, unless you can somehow buy them by persuading TT, the ... |
