the current latest maps are not compatible. But TomTom will come out with newer maps that will be compatible with TTN5

Are you sure you are not confusing this with the assumptions that TT make when planning a route? They are not based upon the speed limit of the road (at least not in TT5) but rather on the road type. ... |

According to our limited information TomTom is considering the option to provide map updates for TTN5. These will not be free, though.
