This has probably been asked before but I haven't been on here for a long time. I'm updating my map and it is backing up to my computer before I can download updates. This takes a long time and nothing will have changed since I last updated a few weeks ago, although without new maps. I also follow GPSW advice and back up manually before making any changes.
Is there any way to stop Home from backing up my (antique) Go 720 every time I do any sort of updates please? _________________ TT Go Essential |

Don't connect it to Home, he said somewhat facetiously. Why do you need to connect it? He said in ignorance. |

....or, in TTHome, go to Tools/HOME Preferences/Advanced then just untick "automatically...etc" |

Thank you, it's at least 2 years since I used Home and much longer since I looked at what was in the advance preferences. I didn't realise that option existed. _________________ TT Go Essential |

You should let TTHome update (incrementally) your navcore/application to the correct/current/latest/probably last 9.510 and there's nothing wrong with keeping that 720 going as long as you can as they were/are a damned site better & more reliable than the newer/poncy NAV3/NAV4 devices! |

Yes, I toyed with getting a new Go to get the included map updates but decided to stick with it. I did update it a little while ago and it isn't offering me any at present. I don't know what navcore version it has because my daughter has borrowed it but I didn't think any more updates would be available at
it's age. I'm reluctant to get rid because I'm aware that it's better than the modern ones and, living in the Channel Islands, it only gets used for a few weeks each year. _________________ TT Go Essential |

Here is the CURRENT list of devices that TT have stopped supporting (which TTHome would notify you about if yours was one of them although it currently isn't one of these) https://uk.support.tomtom.com/app/topic/name/end-of-life
TTHome certainly should update the navcore to 9.510 next time you get a chance to "update my device" although remember that as these navcore updates are incremental, you'll need to disconnect your device & allow it to reboot/restart after each update before "updating" again. |
