For the second time recently I've been out and about in an unknown area.

Yesterday it was a journey to Reading from Woking that took in Lightwater and Bracknell.

I spotted a redspeed camera on quite a high pole on the central reservation pointing the other way and I got no warning of it. It looked new.

I'd love to report it but I don't know exactly where I was, I was on my own and I was in a flowing convoy with no time to spare to investigate.

Typical

(note - must download the latest and try and find it as I'm a few weeks out of date)

What sat-nav system are you using?.

The way I normally log new camera positions on a TomTom is by quickly adding a favourite at the exact location and then naming it with something to remember what it was (e.g. "red 40").
(Once you have tapped the "My location" button to grab the position, it doesn't matter how long you take to name it, so I can do it slowly over the next few minutes whenever it's safe to do so).

I normally verify other people's camera reports, so I get a warning well in advance. That means as soon as I see the camera ahead, I can get to the right screen as I approach and tap just one button when I am right beside it.

If something catches me unawares, I just add the favourite as soon as I can, and name it something descriptive like "back at junct. Northbnd. Gat 40"
