1005 Problem

Hi all,
I have a problem Im hoping someone can help me with. Today whilst doing a device update via my tomtom I accidentally disconnected the device as it showed 99%. I did a reset on it, holding the power button down until it rebooted and it detects a gps signal and I can navigate to a favourite.
What it cant do is navigate to a POI at a particular location. For example Im trying to navigate to Alton Towers. I chose navigate to PO in city and the device then says 'one moment please'...It just continues to state that and doesn't come up with a list of cities to select from.

Im using an old map, version 8.9 I think. I suspect the accidental disconnect at 99% has corrupted a file in the root directory which needs to be repaired or replaced. Before I shell out on a map upgrade (in the hope this would resolve my problem), is there anyway using the my tomtom software I can recover the unit to full working ability?
