Tom Tom on two wheels

I have a Tom Tom GO700 which has Bluetooth, although I have never used the Bluetooth. Can I get a small earpiece for under a crash helmet and then use both on my motorbike having made a bracket to fix the Tom Tom and waterproofed it? Tom Tom Rider too expensive!

I would expect a BT ear piece would be rather uncomfortable. There are plenty of helmet BT units for not a great deal of money. However I am not sure the Go700 issues instructions through BT if it does then go for it.

Just make sure it is well secured. the Rider units are much more rugged than the standard car units, I have dropped mine several times and it still works but my wife dropped her TT1XL and the screen needed replacing.

IIRC the 700 only uses Bluetooth so that it can be used as a handsfree unit to make and take telephone calls calls via its microphone and speaker. It does not send its instructions by bluetooth AFAIK. For that it would need to use A2DP profile and I don't think it has it.
