Evening all

I haven't had a SAT NAV for about 4 years, I've been borrowing my boss's, but it's getting beyond a joke, I think I use it 5 times for every 1 time he uses it... so I need to buy my own.

It's ages since I've looked so don't really know what's what, but Halfords have the Via Live 125 Eur for £159.90 which seems pretty reasonable to me?

It has the current Lifetime Maps offer, Voice Control and Live Services which seems flaky (but I love a gimmick), all of which seem pretty cool. Not really interested in Eur but can't find it without those maps, guessing they don't do one...

A few questions.
What does the 135 have that the 125 doesn't? (bigger number means better in my head but the 135 doesn't even seem to have Live?).
Is this the entry level Live model?
If so, am I better off paying more for a better model or will this do the job?
Can I put PGPSW cameras and spoken alerts on it? (I'm sure I read somewhere that you couldn't put stuff on the newer models but am probably wrong).

Thanks for your help all

Cheers
H.

Via 125 and 125 LIVE have 4GB internal memory
Via 135 has 4GB memory AND a micro SD card slot, so you can have more then one map at a time.
Apart from that, I think they are the same.

Via 125 is no longer showing on the TT website as a current model

Via 130 has the "new improved" Speak & Go version of voice control, I can't remember if the 125 does.

Thanks Andy, so the 125 is out.

Seems like I've stepped into a minefield, I've just looked at the 825 but a quick check on the TT website and that isn't current either.

The 820 is listed and looks to fit the bill. However the TT website says it is 5" and the Halfords listed 820 says it is 4.3". One of the Halfords reviews even says it was worth getting the wider screen...

Confusing to say the least...

To be honest, I shouldn't be too worried about specific models not being 'current' on the TT website. Several of the best and most sought-after models are no longer current models.

You also get better deals on them in the shops.

My mistake, the 825 is listed as a current model on the TT site.

So I guess I'm looking at...

Go Live 825 Europe (£199.99)
Go Live 1005 Europe (£246.28)

Is the 1005 is worth the extra money for what looks like a different touchscreen, different mount and an SD card slot? Is there anything else different?

Would be good to hear some opinions before I buy one... and if someone could confirm that you can put the PGPSW camera's and spoken alerts on to either of these I would appreciate it.

Cheers

According to this website
http://www.satnav-discounts.co.uk/tomtom-go/tomtom-comparison-chart.htm
the only differences between the two are Live Services, Fluid Touchscreen and SD slot**. Mounts are not mentioned in the matrix.

In another current topic, a member has recently switched from an old 940 (thought by many to be the best TT ever) to a 1005 and he has found the pros and cons to be about 50:50.

I think that if you are asking for which one to go for, the 825 or the 1005? it comes down to personal requirements. Do you want Live Services? Are you likely to want future expansion as offered by the SD slot?** If the answer to either of these is yes, then it's the 1005 for you.

ALSO, have a look around the various tabs on the website linked to above, they often have where to buy at the best price and details of any offers going.

EDIT - Yes, PgpsW camera POI's can be added to both the 825 & 1005.
**EDIT;EDIT - Sorry, my mistake. According to the matrix, an SD card slot is included on both.

Thanks for that.

I've plumbed for the 1005, the screen looked much nicer next to the 825 in the shop.

Thanks again
