I can show you how to do it with GoogleMaps if you don't have much success with AutoRoute or ViaMichelin. Just say if you are interested.

Routing with Google is easy. Set your start point and destination set it to return the results (avoid m-ways and/or tolls). select the route that most suits and then drag the route to fine tune if required.

I usually get ViaMichelin to plot the route for me (they have more options/filters) then switch to Google to export it to my TT.

check out this link, http://houghi.org/tomtom/
read the "More explanation" link just to make sure my memory is not too addled with the following :-

Basically, plot the desired route in GoogleMaps. When happy click on the "Chain Link" icon at the top-right of the summary panel, copy the link which appears in the top box and paste it into the field on the Houghi page (above). Click the "Submit Query" button, wait a few moments and it returns with an .itn file which you load into the ITN folder on your TT.

I think AliOnHols has solved your query but just for your information a POI (ov2) does not hold any routing information, it is just a list of points.

You need to save as an .itn file (tomtom itinerary file) to save the routing information.

To create .itn files from AutoRoute requires a program called ITN Converter.

In use the saved AutoRoute .axe file contains any route that you have created. If you open the .axe file, with ITN Converter, it will create and save the .itn file ready for copying to the TomTom.

Just a bit of useful info, which would have saved me some recent frustration ( Embarassed ). You need to close the axe file in Autoroute, by opening another route , creating a new one or closing the program, before trying to open it in ITNConv, or you get a rather un-helpful "Unknown file format" message!
