I have a Nuvi 3790 and have loaded the UK speed zoned complete database through Garmin's POI Loader.

This works fine I have the bong - bong audible warning, the grey or red warning box depending on speed and the icons on the map (yes very small ones).

What is going wrong with the voice pack?

I downloaded it, female with chime prefix, with the other files (mp3 version) and installed with the other files using POI Loader via a SD card but I don't get the verbal warning following the bong - bong per the sample.

Am I missing something?

The 'bong' you are hearing is actually Garmin's own bong. The 3790 does not have an MP3 player so will not work with the mp3 voices. You need to use the WAV file version.

Note that if you use Windows then you also need to put sox.exe (search forums for link) in the same folder as poiloader.exe.

Many thanks for the instructions.

I had assumed a modern machine would utilise the mp3 file?

Using a Mac so no need of sox.exe. Reinstalled with .wav files and tested in demo mode - seems to work a treat.

Thanks again for the quick response.

this is garmin remember - the directors get extra fat bonuses for "change for changes sake", and "removing anything which users find useful".
