Right got to get a new sat nav for company use - can spend ~£100 what's the best deal out there at the moment. Supplier has got to be able to give a VAT receipt so eBay's out of the question
I thought this was quite a good offer? |

My personal feeling is that I'd not buy anything with the Simplified Menu, so I wouldn't buy it.
I'd prefer the XL IQ Routes™ edition Europe Refurbished from the TomTom Outlet store. http://www.tomtom.com/en_gb/products/tomtom-outlet-store/ _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

Yep, me too but although the first un-simplified edition is listed there doesn't seem to be the option to buy it. |

What about the XL IQ Live for £94:99 see Here but the VAT will take the price slightly over your budget - Mike |

Cheers Mike, that's a good deal, especially since it's got the live services & europe and I don't mind adding a bit of my own money to it. Do you think this would have a LMG with it?
Just out of interest, is there a great deal of difference with the simplified menu system? - I'm used to using my own 940 and the wifes 550. |

Give them a ring in the morning to find out about the LMG as I am unsure as to what the current status is.
Simplified menu means things such as Itinerary Planning is AWOL, some of the other options such as Warn When Near POI have been added back in but were missing when the devices were launched with the dumbed down menu.
The XL IQ Live has a standard menu, the only thing missing is the TTS which is a real shame, with TTS the XL IQ would have been one of the best produced, shame that for the UK market they ommitted this feature - Mike |

Went ahead and bought it as they seemed to be selling quick - the company's paying for the device so as long as the maps are reasonably up to date it'll be ok, I'll argue the point with TT when it arrives if they are quite old.
Good spot, cheers Mike.
Rob.
UPDATE:
Email from TotalPDA:
TomToms LMG is not applicable to any of our refurbished models.
I'll let you know the map version when it arrives. |

No need to put your own money in on the purchase price - remember your company wants a VAT invoice because they'll be claiming the VAT back, so the price before VAT is inside your £100 budget. _________________ Dennis

Right, received the item Wednesday afternoon and when I tried it the touch screen seemed miles out of calibration - the centre of the screen I would say was somewhere below the spacebar and cancel keys! I spent an hour swearing and messing about with it (reading about screen calibration) but had to go off on my travels. Disappointed to say the least!
Came to it this morning to actually attempt the screen calibration and it's working perfectly! Confused but happier
Not yet connected to the PC and at power up it has 8.420 as the app and 840.2562 as the map, so a quite old (Nov '09). TomTom have also stated that 'since refurbished products are sold at a discount the LMG is not applicable'.
Cosmetically the unit is absolutely perfect and the sound is ten times better than that out of my 940. Bit disappointed with the age of the maps / no LMG but hey ho, you can't have everything. Hopefully the touch screen issue won't reappear. Pleased with the price for a Live device with 12 mths of services and European mapping. |

I got a refurb 550 last Feb. The map was 840, I contacted TT and said I'd hoped for something a bit more recent and they put a newer map in my account to download. So have a go... _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]
