|
|
Hi,
Can anyone advise how to save typed in POI warnings prior to installing a new map. Although the POI .ov and .bmp files remain I lose the typed in warnings and have to re type them in every time I install a new map. Is there a specific file I can copy from the old map and paste into the new map?
My device is a Tom Tom 730
Any advice much appreciated. |

Did you make a copy of it before you loaded the new map onto it? If you did then just copy the map.config file back over. |

Nearly.... It is called MapSettings.cfg
Sometimes it is possible to simply copy the file from your previous backup (which you should ALWAYS make before doing an update) and it will just work.
However, it often happens that the old version is no longer compatible if the software has also been updated at the same time.
In that case, the unit will constantly re-boot when you switch it on and will never start up properly.
But there is a "work-round" which can often cure that problem...
You use the on-screen emulator in TomTom Home ("Operate my Device") to record a new Favourite, anywhere on the map. This rewrites the MapSettings.cfg file to the new format, and your POI warmings etc. will be retained.
This is one of the most common questions asked on the forum. Using the "search" feature to browse previous topics will find LOTS of help about this. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |
