Checking if files storred on my tom tom 910 are needed

I have had my Tom Tom 910 fo a number of years now and have put various POI's onto it over that time period into the folder that says something like "Westen Europe"

What I would like to do is check the files I have are needed, as there are lot of strange looking files in there, so if I copied this list of files , would I be able to send it to someone on the forum who would be good enough to look at it and advise me as to the best way of "tidying" up the files and whether or not any of them could be deleted.

I am aware, from previous correspondence on the forum, that I can only store a certain number of POI's on my device , so would like to see if I have stored mine in the most efficient manner or whether they should be stored in a different way.

Make sure you have the file extensions turned on and simply look for all the ov2 and bmp files as these are the POI, for example Shell would appear as two files for the single POI category:

Shell.ov2
Shell.bmp

The above applies to all POI files stored in your map folder (Western_and_Central_Europe) - Mike

If you use the small program DriveZ, it will copy files in any given Folder.

You can PM me, and I will give you an email address to send the images to. I can then compare them with mine.

Mike, sorry if its a daft thing to say, but wouldnt it be easier to just blank the tomtom using windows explorer and then connect it to TT home and let it just reinstall all the needed files and maps ?

Not with a 910 it isn't, for a start it has 4GB of Loquendo TTS files that cannot be downloaded by the Home software, in fact the backups provided by the Home software used to rename all the files to lowercase making the text to speech function useless when you reinstalled the back up!

With a 910 I would only connect to Home for the occasional map update and nothing else to be honest, this is based upon experiance as I did have a 910 a few years ago, and yes, I spent hours renaming files thanks to the useless Home software when it botched the TTS files! - Mike
