|
|
Hi,
I have just started using Aura on an android phone. I'm pleased and impressed but two things struck me on my first long run.
It was ridiculously optimistic on arrival time. Prior to the trip Google maps estimated a travel time of about 1 hr 30 mins which was about right. Aura estimated 1 hr. It had the road speeds right as far as I could see so I don't understand why it was so optimistic/unrealistic.
It offers a choice of route type - fastest, shortest, and most economic. I tried fastest - which took me through town centres and not around the bypass! and Most economic which did exactly the same in reverse. Seems less than ideal. Am I doing anything wrong or do you think this is still "work in progress"? _________________ LostMike

After posting I had found some of the other comments which I had previously missed. _________________ LostMike

HTC Desire with Android 2.2. I too just 'upgraded' from MM10 to Aura and agree the ETAs are completely unrealistic. They would require constant high speed way above the speed limit to even get close so in effect they are useless.
This is a shame as the interface, maps and other functions seem to be an improvement over MM10. Map choice is good and excellent value too. It is however annoying that there is no ETA display in portrait mode as this is how most car cradles hold the phone.
I hope Sygic sort the ETA accuracy soon and release a fix as I'm stuck with Aura unless I re-install MM10 |

I agree with fryups that they need to get the duration/speed issue sorted soon. It is not encouraging that they seem very slow in responding to emails despite the auto response saying they would like to reply within 5 working days. Not very encouraging. _________________ LostMike

I got Sygic Mobile Drive (?) pre installed on my car system, I liked it until I took it on it's first drive, the ETA's put me off so I decided to go back to TomTom but I have had problems transferring the licence (see my other thread). However the mapping of it I find more up to date than the TomTom maps I have, the voice doesn't bother me although I would prefer Mr Cleese again, basically everything is fine apart from the time planning! What worries me is I guess there will be an upgrade fee to fix this when they eventually do which will only spur me to transfer my redundant TomTom license. _________________ o2 XDA Stellar
