Can I download a route that I have devised on my PC to my TomTom GO 630? and if so could you point me in a direction as to how....what is the best tool to plan the route on the PC and then how to get it down to the TomTom.

The satnav works fine for getting to places, but if I want to pick the route ......

Thanks

Lots of ways...

Off the top of my head, the best one is Tyre ("trace your route everywhere"). That program lets you create the route on Google maps and load it onto the TomTom as an Itinerary. If you've got it installed on your PC, it can even be integrated into TT Home so it appears on the Home menus.

There are also several ways to create your routes in Google Earth as a .kml and then convert that to an .itn itinerary file to load on the TomTom.

One thing you need to remember is none of these methods actually send a ROUTE to the TomTom, only a list of points to visit as an itinerary.
So if you create an itinerary, you have to make sure you add enough points to ensure the TomTom is likely to use the same roads to get from one place to the next. If you only specify two or three points, it may decide to go by a different route inbetween each.

Or you could use TomTom's own on-line Route planner, but that's pretty clanky! All it has is the capability to send the start and end points to the Tomtom and the TT has to work out the whole route (i.e. a TWO step itinerary!).
If you are using the same maps as the route planner, it SHOULD create the same route, but that's a big assumption (there's also Map Share downloads and IQ Routes to think about....)
