I note from the link below that the Fuel Price feature is being stopped.
I wonder if there will be any change in pricing now that this feature is removed?

Apparently they are reducing it in proportion to the usefulness the feature served. So subscriptions will be 50p cheaper. Ironic really as that's the same amount their prices were out by! |

I hope not as HD Traffic is really good! However is it me or did Buddies stop working some time ago too? |

hmmmm
My wife came home this afternoon with her brand new XL Live. I hope they do not remove many more features or I will be asking TT for some cash back
(doing explorer backup as I type) |

Yes, when buddies and fuel pricing didn't show up on the new GO 100x and Via models it seemed inevitable that they would be disappearing from all models at some stage.
TomTom have since confirmed that both are being discontinued. Given the inaccuracy of the fuel prices it's no surprise. But they've stuck with speed cameras and they're just as innacurate

Buddies was working fine for me last week between the 530 and the 940. Oddly enough the 530 was automatically updating its position so I could see it on the 940 which it used to have to be done by manually connecting to buddies. _________________ Drivelux |

I think this is a bit of a red herring....
The link in the first post specifically refers to "Devices connecting to MyTomTom" - i.e. the GO LIVE 1005, GO 1005, GO LIVE 1000, GO 1000, Via LIVE 120, Via 125/120/110, Sony XNV
Fuel prices has NEVER been available on those devices.
But I am still getting it in the updates to a Go940, a Go950 and an XL Live.
Unless I missed it, I can't see anywhere where it says they are actually stopping it on the older devices yet? |

I was told that Fuel and Buddies was being phased out but can't locate the email. I'll clarify with TomTom in the morning.
The fact that they chose to omit from the new models is evidence that it is being dropped, why else would they omit it on their newest models and continue to offer it elsewhere?
My guess is they'll announce it is to end and give notice at some point in the near future. _________________ Darren Griffin |

While it does say it is Navcore 10 devices on that particular page, if you go to the main TT website, there is now NO mention in the LIVE services descriptions of Fuel Prices. So I still believe that this feature is heading for the bin!
http://www.tomtom.com/services/?Lid=1 is the MAIN page for LIVE services, and on it is NO mention of Fuel Prices!

Makes sense, stop advertising it and then once 12mths has passed since last renewal where it was stated as a feature - pull the plug. _________________ Darren Griffin |

If the fuel price feature is being phased out, do you think they'll maintain the accuracy of the prices up until the day they stop providing it?
(In case anybody doesn't recognise it, that's a joke). _________________ Dennis

Given the frequency with which fuel prices change i.e. +1p one day, -1p the next then +1p again the following day at one filling station near me I defy anyone to maintain an accurate database of prices - and that's not including recent government imposed increases.
Is TomTom to continue with the location of filling stations which was also far from accurate? |

Petrolprices.com manages to maintain a very high level of pricing accuracy based on fleet fuel card users.

TomTom should go away, drop POIs (including speed cameras) and do the stuff they once were very good at, namely satellite navigation. Leave the POIs to people who are committed to getting them accurate and up to date, a commitment not observed by TT. _________________ Dennis
