recently whenever I connect my TT to the PC I get this error message. I've tried running the clear flash tools but no difference. Everything seems to be working OK it's just annoying.
Any ideas?

Windows Vista and 7 will do this from time to time with USB flash based devices. No idea what triggers it but i find it's ok usually to ignore it. It's not an indication of a problem. |

Thanks. The fun that is vista,.... again
Luckily I'm soon going back to XP, I've had enough of vista's little "features" _________________ TomTom ONE Series 30 (v8) & TMC traffic

Do you use TT Home?
If so, do you use the Eject button at the bottom right before you disconnect the device?
If not, do you use the Safely Remove Hardware function?
In each case you should wait for the message that it's safe to disconnect the device before doing so.
Failing to do so can cause Scan & Fix to be triggered the next time you attach it. |

Exactly. Windows 7 doesn't seem so bad for it but Vista seems to love doing it....

Personally i always eject it and then let it restart before removing it.
It might be worth letting it run the Scan & Fix - it's just CHecKDiSK. If the TT Internal Drive is marked as "Dirty" it'll keep asking to do it until you run Scan & Fix when it'll mark it as "Clean" again and it should stop asking. |

I ran it and it said it had found errors and wanted to correct them, I was a bit reluctant but as I had already done a back-up let it fix them and it's cleared the message and seems to be working OK. I expect it was reporting the size wrong, that used to be the problem I used to get if I don't eject things properly. _________________ TomTom ONE Series 30 (v8) & TMC traffic

This can also happen if the TT crashes or reboots, it leaves behind lost clusters usually from the files it constantly updates such as mapsettings.cfg or ttgo.bif and settings.dat. This can trigger a dirty disk and scandisk will recover these files to a folder called FOUND001 or similar. I have never yet needed to restore any of these filesas they are just the older versions which were not cleanly deleted. _________________ Drivelux |
