Ads are starting to pop up here for a XL 340-T, promising free lifetime traffic:



In case you don't know, traffic via RDS/TMC only works in a major American metro areas and costs ~$60 annually.

Does anybody have a clue how traffic is implemented in these new units? GPRS? RDS/TMC? New external receivers? Same old external receivers, but a change in the PND's software?

Via a rds-tmc antenna built into the car charger unit. A 'pod' as such a few inches from the usb mini plug.

So, its not like the 'old' rds-tmc antennae (either male plug model or usb model) with a bunch of suction cups and the additional wire.

But it is still rds-tmc.
