Hi all
I just decided to take the plunge and buy a PDA and Sat nav system cause i'm very cheesed of with gettin lost on jobs to the middle of no where.
HP 2210 refurb of ebay £204
A fortuna Clip On Bluetooth Reciver of ebay £95
And was gonna use TomTom 3 software
I was wondering if:
Can the BT recievers be used of for walking about sat nav?
&
Is TomTom 3 the best software to use?
&
Wheres the cheapest & best type of Flash memory to Use?
&
Was i ripped on ebay for my equipment or was it resonable? (its easy to get carried away on ebay )
Thanks

- Yes, you can use the BT receiver for walking. Depending on where you walk you need either a topographical program or a street routing program that supports walking mode
- define "best"
- you should purchase a CF card. It is faster and more reliable than SD. Buy as big a card as your budget permits
- the ebay prices seem reasonable to me _________________ Lutz

Thanks for the reply,
Software wise i'm not sure what different ones are avaible i've read that tomtom is good with voice directions and 3d maps etc, i've also read it can try and send you the wrong way up oneway streets, are there many other programs and how do they compare to each other with features such as postcode usage and accuracy.
Cheers

Ah... getting closer. So Postcode support is important, and accurate map material that properly shows one way streets. What else? _________________ Lutz

Not really sure, basicly i'm a pc tech and drive to and from customers fixing there puters, i tend to drive around towns i don't know and sometimes in the middle of nowere, just need somthing to get me there with out 20 mile detours from taking a wrong turn.
Also is there a way of intergrating trafic monitoring into this gps system or are they two seperate entities as i found the software that has speed camera details overlayed on your maps which will come in handy.
Thanks

If you can get Internet connectivity on the move (for example, from a Bluetooth equipped mobile phone that contains a SIM that permits GPRS Internet access), TomTom Traffic will soon be with us, which is a subscription service for traffic information.
It will cost 10 Euros a month, or 50 Euros a year.

Unfortunaly i've not got a bluetooth tooth phone so that knocks that on the head for now, as for compact flash memory i seen a 1Gb Kingston CF card for £90 are these cards compatable and suitable for the setup i have.
Thanks Again
