which is probably like most of us !!!!

when I switch on my TT1 in a morning and it is cold, the unit flicks between several screens as if I am touching the display - usually around the change preferences icon. This can happen for a few minutes.

If I switch on the air con aand give it a blast of warm air - this stops and it operates perfectly normally all day long - is this a coincidence?

I have had a look around the edge of the screen and the case and can see no signs at all of any damage or debris that may cause pressure on the glass screen

any ideas ??

When you say cold how cold? Cold as in left in the car overnight cold? if so, then it's "normal" for some electrics to do this when cold. Best bet is to take it indoors at night.

Also not a good idea to "give it a blast of warm air" as this can cause consensation inside the unit which doesn't do the unit any good.

thanks for the quick reply - must remember about the condensation bit Embarassed

i do not leave the unit in the car overnight, but if I am scrapping the ice off the car, and then switch the unit on, it does its merry dance, so yes the unit has come from inside the house to the cold car interior.

Does this explain anything??

Thanks

Sudden changes of temperature can do this type of thing. Do you have a secure 'cold' room indoors that you can leave it in - even the lounge if you don't have the heat on overnight!

Also, do you have a screen protector? Sometimes, bubbles can form underneath them which could be 'pressing' the screen' until the temperature normalises.

another quick reply - thanks again

I do not use a screen protector, so it is not that.

But I can leave it in a secured 'colder' place overnight and see what happens - I guess this would limit differential thermal expansion.

Cheers Very Happy

Insert the corner of a business card or similar between the screen and the surround then run it around the edge as debris may have fallen in to the void between the two parts, the cooler temperature will cause the case to contract possibly applying pressure to the screen, get rid of the rubbish thats fallen in the gap and it should be ok - Mike
