Hi. After many years of owning a Go Classic I have finally upgraded to a Go Live 750. I have connected to TomTom Home and installed the latest maps etc. I have also ordered a new 4GB High Speed microSD card.

My question is this: Can I transfer my maps onto the microSD card now that they are installed on the internal memory? I don't want them installed in both places at once.

If it can be done, could someone please give me step-by-step instructions?

Thank you.

Before you do anything you must do a backup using Windows Explorer (NOT TomTom Home).

Very briefly....

1. Start Windows Explorer
2. Connect 750 and browse
3. Right click folder with map - something like Western_and_Central_Europe.
4. Click Edit, then Copy.
5. Stick Micro card into a card reader and click on it.
6. Click Edit, then Paste.
7. Go back into the 750 and delete the map folder.

If you don't understand what I'm talking about (it'll be gobbledygook to some people), don't worry, just say so and we'll really do the step by step business in words of one syllable. (Even by phone if you like).

Hi,
After reading Darren's review I have today plunged for the 750. I guess as a complete novice (this is my first sat nav) I need to ask a couple of questions:
1) From earlier posts it seems that I will need a memory card - should this be a Micro SD or a Micro SDHC card?
2) From the answer given to Wendolene cannot the Maps etc be installed on the Micro Card without using a reader ie. with the Card alredy fitted to the 750? (I don't have a card reader on my present computer - I am in the process of getting a new PC with a reader fitted shortly.)
Regards, jack

It will work with either type upto and including 32GB in capacity.

You can update the card with it in the device but I wouldn't try copying the contents of the built in Flash memory straght to a card fitted in the same device, the last time I tried this it wiped everything out!

Make sure you make a full Windows Explorer backup BEFORE you do anything else to the device - Mike

Thanks very much for the reply. I will do a backup using Windows Explorer ASAP.
I did notice that the backup option in TomTom Home was now greyed out and unusable.
