Does anyone know if it's possible to have an audible alert when traffic is actually updated?
Whilst this may be annoying every three min with the service is working, it could be handy to have during the problomatic times.
I'm no software developer/programmer, but is such a thing possible? _________________ Graeme Bennett

I sort of get this from time to time (not every update, only when my ETA changes) when the nice TTS lady says "New arrival time 5:06pm. You are still on the fastest route." _________________ Dennis

I think that happens anyway if you set an Arrival time and stop for 10 or 20 minutes.
I have found that if I have a route set and arrive and then immediately set up the return journey on my 520 and do not actually set off straight away, after an unspecified lenght og time I get that reminder. _________________ Ric - TomTom 520 DEAD - Passed to the great traffic jam in the sky. Yes, Richard, I wasn't very convinced myself! Mostly because I don't drive at "normal" speeds - I generally tend to drive noticeably slower than you'd expect (whether as Whitevanman or normal motorway maniac) - I prefer to toddle along at about 57mph on the inside lane of the motorways, because that gets me a good hundred miles further on a full tank than if I burn up the road (it's my fuel money I'm burning).
So I know full well that I'm going to get a change to my ETA, usually arriving later than the first ETA and on a longer journey, I'll get this revised ETA more than once, quite simply because I'm not doing anywhere near 70mph on motorways and 60mph on other roads - I'm surprised I don't get it more frequently!
So somebody else needs to come up with an audible alert for traffic updates - I wish TT would - I'd even be happy if instead of "Traffic is up to date" they said "Traffic updated x minutes ago". _________________ Dennis

That's what I was thinking. A nice little discrete optional 'bong'
The visual alert is a bit dangerous IMO. _________________ Graeme Bennett

You can have an audible alert when the traffic on your route changes, not when Traffic itself updates.
This is either a 'bong' or the TTS description of a new arrival time. You do not have to have set an arrival time for this to work.
Check your traffic and voice preferences to check the necessary boxes are ticked. I like the TTS one (one of the main reasons I got TTS working on the XL LIVE). |
