Problems with latest POI loader and Garmin 2720

Hi

I have been using POI loader for a few years now with my 2720 and the database from this site. However, the latest POI loader will not upload to my GPS and returns an error as follows:

The GPS has returned an error status while receiving data packets.
This could be due to a malfunction in the GPS or an error in this application.

I hav ereset the GPS, reloaded the unit software and maps and tried all versions of the database but to no avail - any ideas?

You don't mention if you get this when going though gStart.
I have found a problem with POI Loader but only when loading POIs to my 2720 via Garmin gStart.
Nothing happens when clicking "Next" after choosing the send POIs to unit option - it then freezes and doesn't go any further. I then have to "Cancel" - I don't get an error message but maybe I am not waiting long enough. Though judging from your message you appear to be getting past this point.

However I found that it does work normally by closing down gStart, then by running PoiLoader.exe by itself - either from the directory where it is saved, or going to:

Windows Start,
Programs,
Garmin,
PoiLoader.
This starts PoiLoader without gStart, then everything works as normal.
I have created a shortcut on the Desktop to start PoiLoader by itself.

Maybe the above will solve your problem as well?
