Haas anyone mounted their external antenna on a rear side window? My Scenic has a metelized windscreen so I really need to use an extenal antenna on my Nuvi 660 to get around a problem of slow response. It would be very convenient to be able to mount an external antenna on the rear side window using a suction mount. However, I am not sure whether that would be a practical location. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Hi M8

I would not recommend the antenna on the side window, as you won't have a clear view to the sky. It is very easy to install it quite well on a Scenic, see my picture walk through.

Although the original Installation Guide is for my Quest 2, the antenna is still mounted exactly as show and used with my new Nüvi 765T, again with the dashboard friction mount.

Hope this helps!

Does your windscreen have a dotted area behind the rear view mirror? If so this is normally untreated and i used to run my antenna around the windscreen and stuck the antenna on top of the rear view mirror with double sided tape. Worked for my i3.

Thanks for the responses. I do have the non-metalized area around the rear view mirror so I am opting to install the antenna there and route the wire around the windscreen down to the Nuvi. I happen to have my old Talex metal gooseneck mount so If necessary I can attach the antenna to that.
