I subscribed to quaterly Uk & Ireland map version updates through Tom Tom Home for my Tom Tom One Original. However, when I load a new map, I lose all the UK speed zoned camera data, camera voice Ogg files and sat nav voices, camera warnings and POI files. It is such a fiddle to put everything back that I am reluctant to update the map versions, for I seem to have a week of getting everything back into a working state. (After most recent update, my device just sits there wiating for a signal .....for ever!).
Can anyone advise what is the most efficient way of updating a map version, and retrieving all the associated files for a smooth file transfer?
Thank you.
Regards

A week? Some exaggeration there!
When you install a new map you need to copy over all the .bmp, .ov2 and .ogg files from the old map.
The warning configs are stored in the mapsettings.cfg file in the existing map folder.
You can try and copy thos across to the new map. In most acses this will work and preserve your configuration. If it doesn't, or the system fails to load, delete the mapsettings.cfg file and reboot. A new one ill be created.
These issues normally occur when a new version of software has been installed and use of an older mapsettings.cfg file is not supported. But its easy enough to test first. If it works great, if it doesn't then you have little option but to re-configure the alerts.
Bit even so, that's only 4x per year and it shouldn't take more than 30mins to do. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Thanks.
A week because I only find out something is wrong again when I drivein or out of work - I fix that thing that evening, and next day find the next thing. After about 5 trips home I seem to have it working as was! |

Because the map is new, anything you added to the previous map's folder is left behind but its easily copied.
Keep a note of this post and check back next time. We're here to help. _________________ Darren Griffin |

No, those are part of the map and need to remain where they are. Don't forget mapsettings.cfg though. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Thank you,
The new map and camera setting and voices all seem to be working - in about 30 minutes rather than my week of frustrated fixes, so many thanks for the assistance - it is easy when someon who knows tells you how!
Thanks
