Hi
Hope you can assist me.
I'm just embarking on what appears to be a steep learning curve! ( I thought you just plugged it in and away you go)

I have just purchased aHP ipaq 1940 and a Haicom 303E with the BT401 slipper.
The problem is that I can't seem to get the ppc and the GPS to talk to each other.

I have followed the instructions as follows :-

Turn bluetooth on >Then into bluetooth Manager>Tap New>Connect
Select "Explore a Bluetooth Device" > Next >

At this point I slot the GPS CF into the BT slipper (fully charged) and check the Blue dicator is flashing OK

Tap Device Selection window. It scans and finds HAICOM BT GPS which
I then select

I then get a bluetooth Authentication screen which requires a Passkey to establish a paired connection. ?? I imput a 4 dgit number of my own choosing?? and it then politely informs me that " The device does not offer any usable Services. Please enable ......etc.

The device is then shown with a large ? superimposed ontop of the GPS icon with a description of "Unknown device type 00:0A:3A:00:51:A6

So thats where I'm stuck at!

Some other observations that I have noticed that may be relevant.

When the GPS is powered up via the miniport it flashes red and if shown to the sky this changes after aprox 1 min to solid red (is this what you call a satellite fix?)

When I slot the GPS into the BT slipper I dont get any red light on the GPS

My ipaq BT works with my Nokia phone and with my PC via a BT dongle

If anybody could help me with any of the above I would be most grateful

Sorry to be so long winded but as I said I am just learning and need to be specific

Hears hoping

Blindowl

ps What are all the drivers for on the supplied minidisk?

No services exposed is indeed bad.... Try the bonding code 0183 and see if that helps.

Hi

I presume that you mean enter 0183 as the passkey??

No , still no services

Is this likely to be one of those incompatable slipper/mouse pairings I have read about on the review section.? They were bought together in one package and the barcode label is transparent.

Try 0000 for the code, that ought to do it.

The manual is not so clear on this.

Cheers,

Walter
