I'm subscribed to HD Traffic on my 740 Live. Yesterday I travelled from Yorkshire to Sussex and the TomTom wasn't showing any traffic incidents in the UK - no roadworks - nothing. I turned the unit off and on a couple of times but still no traffic. Tonight I happened to zoom the map out and I see there are some incidents shown in northern France, but nothing in the UK. I'm currently in West Sussex. Any ideas - I can't see any obvious settings..?!

Thanks

I can see incidents in France which I have never seen on the unit before, but I can see all the usual incidents inside the M25 (where I am) but nothing North of Derby.

Shame it would not work if I was in France (yet).

I thought it was only supposed to do about a 100 mile radius of your current location, the same as GPRS Traffic and RDS-TMC?

Northern France is only 85 miles from central London whilst Derby is 115, so mileage wise not out of range but I would have expected a different traffic database.

Normally I see incidents as far north as about Leicester and west to about Oxford, but tonight just two incidents in northern France!

That doesn't look good!

Almost as though your SIM card has registered with a French network!

It looks like you have a satellite lock, so it should know where you are.

What happens if you plan a route - does it change?

Don't forget TomTom are rolling out their "roaming" version of the Live services. This seems to be a by-product of that.

Exactly. It's been covered a few times in the forum this week and on the TT website. The XL HD units ship with HD Traffic in selected European countries and x40 owners will be upgraded by the end of the year. I'm starting to get reports in north France too....

But are you still getting UK incidents?

Yes. As mentioned above the HD Traffic shows incidents in a 100 miles square around your position. Originally it was only your Home country. Now it includes some European Countries too..

From ther TT website here

Quote:
Driving out of your country?
No problem, your LIVE device will be able to receive TomTom LIVE Services in other LIVE countries before the end of the year and will seamlessly change when you cross the borders between them!

What do you need to do?
Nothing - if you already have a paid subscription to LIVE Services your device will be able to receive LIVE Services across the Netherlands, the UK, Switzerland and France, with no extra costs, before the end of this year. You will receive a message on your device to inform you when you can receive the LIVE Services in other countries.

What do you get?
You will be able to receive LIVE Services across the UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland. Coverage differs per country - the image below shows you exactly what you will receive in each country.

Once the bar turns blue to show it's logged into HD Services how long have you given it. Sometimes i find it doesn't give much information in the first few minutes then after 5 minutes or so you get loads more....

The two incidents in Nothern France that could be seen were both "manual" inputs rather than HD monitoring inputs in that they were both on the A16 and were a contraflow and a road closure.

When I posted yesterday there were many incidents in and around the M25.

To confirm - the dot in the top left of the traffic screen is blue / on the main screen the traffic bar is blue. The device was on for over three hours when I travlled from Yorkshire to Sussex - all I see is incidents in north France and nothing around me in the UK - like this from last night:

It doesn't change - still incidents in France but blank in the UK.

I wonder what would happen if I went to France - blank in France and incidents in the UK? Razz Wink

Powered it up and left it on for five minutes this morning and it's reporting a total of five incidents - all in northern France. Two contraflows; one delay; one lane closed and maintenance work.

I've logged a ticket with TomTom..!
