Hi, I'm in the market for a TT unit, I've been using TT on my MDA phone for a few years now, but my company has now gone to G1 phones. I'm currently still subscribed to TT traffic service (doesn't run out till next year). So, I'm after some advice on which unit to go for. I've been looking at the x40's but they use HD traffic, is there much difference between the x40's and x30's ? So upon choosing a range, then which model would serve me best. I really use TT for travelling the see my fiancee every weekend (from Kent to Norfolk and back) and also for holidays in the UK etc. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.
Given your interest in traffic, I'd say the 540 or 740 would be the one to go for. You can save money by buying the old models, but the HD traffic is really working quite well IMO. My principle interest is bank holiday traffic, and Friday saw it showing tons of heavy traffic northbound on the M6, light on the way down. It accurately matched the positions on the road as we went past some marked delays. This is a lot better than the old traffic ever used to be. Best still was the Monday traffic, which was pretty clear all the way North and South, and showed as such. The school half-term must have been good for traffic , because southbound is often tens of miles of standing traffic.
I like the 740, and would recommend it and traffic (previous was a 910).

Don't forget to consider the newly announced XL IQ Live if you want the Live services but don't need the phone handsfree (a TomTom probably won't work with an Android OS Phone anyway), the XL also misses out Bluetooth, mp3 player and FM transmitter - Its not available as yet, current forcast is around the end of June, see Here for more details - Mike
